What Is Product Title Optimization?
Also written as shopping title optimization, feed title rewrite, product title SEO.
Definition
Product title optimization is rewriting Shopping titles so they match the words buyers actually type. Google matches most Shopping ads from the title, and only the front of the title is fully visible in the ad. For an ecommerce store on Google Ads, a clear title is how the right product shows up on the right search.

Product Title Optimization, Explained
Google allows up to 150 characters. In most ad slots only roughly the first 70 show, depending on the device and the placement. Put the product type and the attributes people search at the front. Color, size, material, and model belong there. A creative name with no product type in it will not match the query that would convert.
The usual mistake is stuffing. People paste sale, best, and free shipping, then repeat the same noun. That reads badly. Promo text can also break feed policy in most accounts. The other mistake is leaving the warehouse name in the title, like an internal SKU the shopper never types.
Write the search. Leather Laptop Bag 15 Inch Brown beats The Wanderer Limited Drop. Keep it true. If the bag is not leather, do not say leather. Pull the words from real converting queries, not from a keyword tool guess. Brand can lead when people search the brand by name. For most catalogs, lead with what the item is.
How We Use It at ZenoX
On the 200+ ecom accounts we run, we rewrite titles in a supplemental feed from the store's own converting search terms. The primary feed keeps price and identifiers. We start with feed-only Performance Max, so the title is the main match signal until more assets exist.
Questions People Ask About Product Title Optimization
How Should I Write a Google Shopping Product Title?
Lead with the words buyers type. Put product type and the attributes people search first, because only roughly the first 70 characters show in most ads, depending on the device and the placement. Google allows up to 150 characters. Skip promo words like sale or free shipping. A specific, true title beats a stuffed one.
Does Keyword Stuffing Shopping Titles Help Rankings?
No. Repeating words or pasting promo text makes the ad harder to read, so fewer people click. In most accounts it can also break feed policy and get the product disapproved. Write one clear title that names the real product. Put the strongest search words at the front.
