What Is Product Feed?
Also written as shopping feed, Google product feed, Merchant Center feed.
Definition
A product feed is the data file that tells Google Merchant Center what you sell, item by item. For an ecommerce store on Google Ads, Shopping and Performance Max match products to searches from this file. If the feed is wrong, the ads are wrong.

Product Feed, Explained
The feed is the catalog Google actually sees. Shopify is your store. Merchant Center is the copy Google trusts. A feed app or a file sits in the middle. It pushes title, price, availability, image, id, brand and the rest on a schedule. Shopping ads are built from those fields. A bid cannot fix a title that does not match what people type.
The common mistake is treating the feed as a one-click Shopify connect, then never opening it. Prices drift, sold-out items stay in stock, and titles stay as internal SKU names. Google then disapproves rows, or it shows the product for the wrong search.
Open the feed and the live product page side by side. Price and availability have to match. Put the words a shopper types at the front of the title. Fill colour, size and category when they are real. Sync at least daily so stock and price do not go stale. Use a supplemental feed for titles and labels you do not want to store on Shopify.
How We Use It at ZenoX
We treat the product feed as the campaign. On 200+ ecom accounts, titles, labels and categories get rewritten in a supplemental feed, not inside Shopify. We split the catalog into champions, potentials, sleepers and wasters from that feed. Feed-only Performance Max then reads the cleaned file.
Questions People Ask About Product Feed
What Is a Product Feed in Google Shopping?
It is the data file Merchant Center uses to know each product: title, price, image, link, stock and identifiers. Google Shopping and Performance Max build ads from those rows. If a row is missing, stale or different from the live page, the product usually will not show. It may also show for the wrong search.
Does My Shopify Store Already Have a Product Feed?
Shopify holds the products. A feed is the formatted file or API push that Merchant Center reads. A Shopify channel or a feed app builds that file and sends it. Connecting the channel is the start, not the finish. You still have to check titles, price matches, stock and disapprovals inside Merchant Center.
