What is the minimum ad spend needed to hire a Google Ads agency?
The short answer
Most agencies set a minimum ad spend of a few thousand euros a month before they will take the account. ZenoX sets its floor at about 5,000 euros a month, because below that Smart Bidding lacks conversion data and the fee eats the media budget. Under the floor, run it yourself and learn in the free Google Ads eCom Lab community.
Why spend floors exist at all
Two reasons, both math. First, Smart Bidding runs on conversion data, and a small budget buys few conversions. Below a few thousand euros a month there is simply not enough signal for an operator to steer with, so an agency cannot do much better than the algorithm does on its own.
Second, the fee proportion. On a small account, any meaningful fee is large next to the media budget, so paying it starves the very campaigns it is supposed to improve. A floor is not gatekeeping. It is the level below which hiring out is a bad trade for you, whoever you hire.
Our floor, and the honest reason behind it
We take on accounts from around 5,000 euros a month in Google Ads spend. Below that, we would be charging you for work Smart Bidding mostly does anyway, and we would rather say that plainly than collect the fee. Turning those accounts away costs us clients every month, which is exactly why you can trust the number.
At the floor and above, the trade flips: feed work, tracking accuracy, and structure move real money, and a tiered fee starting at 10 percent of spend is small next to what a sharp operator adds. That is the point where hiring out starts paying for itself.
Under the floor? Do this instead
Run it yourself, and do it properly: one feed-only Performance Max campaign plus a brand Search campaign, launched at 30 to 50 euros a day so the algorithm gets real signal. That setup is genuinely enough at small spend, and everything you learn compounds.
For the playbook, join the free Google Ads eCom Lab on Skool: 1,100-plus ecom operators, monthly live calls, and the same system ZenoX runs on client accounts, with no paid tier. Grow the spend until the floor is in reach, then decide whether you still want to hand it over. Plenty of members never do, and that is fine with us.
