When should a dropshipping brand move ad budget from Meta over to Google Ads?
The short answer
Add Google Ads once a product is already selling on Meta, not instead of Meta. Meta creates demand by interrupting the scroll. Google captures demand from people who are already searching, so it scales a product that is proven to sell, often more cheaply per sale. Run both together. Do not pull budget off Meta to fund Google.
Why the order matters
Meta finds new buyers by interrupting their scroll. It works even when nobody is actively looking for your product yet. Google Shopping and Search work differently. They catch people who are already searching for something like what you sell.
If Meta has not found a real winner yet, there is often no search demand for Google to catch. Google scales what already works. It rarely discovers a winner from a standing start the way Meta can.
The signal that says it is time
The right moment is not a date on the calendar, it is a proven product. Once an offer is selling consistently on Meta, that same product usually starts showing up in Google search too, because people who see an ad on Instagram will often go search the brand or product name before buying.
That is exactly the kind of demand Google Shopping and brand Search are built to catch. Adding Google at that point takes a winner and scales it cheaper, because you are meeting existing intent instead of creating it from zero.
Add Google, do not replace Meta with it
Do not pull budget off Meta to fund Google. They do different jobs. Meta keeps creating new demand at the top. Google keeps capturing and closing it at the bottom. Cut Meta too early and Google eventually runs dry, because there is nothing new feeding the search demand it depends on.
Run both side by side. Let Meta keep finding buyers, and let Google keep converting the ones who are already looking.
