Can You Run Google Ads Without a Website?
Published

Written by Christopher Krassnig, Founder & CEO of ZenoX Media. Answers every question here from the accounts ZenoX runs, not from theory.
The short answer
Yes if you run a local business, but no if you sell products online, because Google's Shopping ads need an online store. A local business can send clicks to a Business Profile, checked 5 November 2026. Google says Shopping products must be "available for purchase through your online store". This page covers product sellers, because ZenoX runs ads for 400+ ecom stores.

Why Product Ads Need a Site
Google says it plainly: "The products that you promote in Shopping need to be available for purchase through your online store." Shopping runs on your product feed, and so does Performance Max when you connect a Merchant Center feed.
The feed is not taken on trust. Google says shoppers "expect to view the same price and availability on your landing page". If they do not match, your account can get a warning or your products can get disapproved. We checked both on 5 November 2026.
With no site, there is nothing to check the feed against and nowhere for a buyer to go.
Search Ads Lean on Your Page Too
Google's own wording on cost-per-click bidding is that you pay when someone "actually clicks on your ad and comes to your site". Your page is part of the deal.
The quality of your ads and landing page is one of the 6 factors in Ad Rank. Landing page experience is also one of the three parts of Quality Score. Google says you can beat a higher bid "with high-quality ads and landing pages". A weak page costs you. We checked all three on 5 November 2026.
What to Build First
You do not need a big site. Build what Google asks for: product pages with clear prices, a checkout that works, a return policy and your contact details. Google says to "Make your contact information clearly available on your website." No returns? Google still wants you to "state your policy explicitly."
Make sure the site and the feed say the same thing. Then start your ads.
If You Run a Local Business
Google has a path for you. Its help page says: "If you don't want to create a website, you can create a Google Business Profile (optimized for your ad)". That is a landing page Google hosts, used with Performance Max. Google also says it "isn't a replacement for your business's website". We checked both on 5 November 2026.
We do not run those accounts, so read Google's page before you build. If you sell calls or bookings, our Google Ads eCom Lab is not built for you either.
