How Good Is the Average Dropshipping Product Feed?

The short answer

The average dropshipping feed is rough: the ZenoX Product Feed Quality Index measured 12,375 products across 251 real Merchant Center accounts in July 2026, and 81.3% carry neither a GTIN nor an MPN. 68% of titles run past 80 characters while Google shows about 70, and only 5% name a material or pattern. The automatic fields are filled; the manual ones sit empty.

The pattern in the data

Sort the attributes by fill rate and the story tells itself. Brand sits at 97.5% and condition at 96.2%, because Shopify and feed apps fill those automatically. Then it falls off a cliff: 2 or more extra images on 41% of products, product_detail entries on 10.8%, a GTIN or MPN on 18.7%, material or pattern on 5%.

The automatic fields no longer separate anyone. The manual fields are empty almost everywhere, so filling them by hand puts your feed ahead of most of the market on that signal from day one.

Titles are long in the wrong direction

68% of sampled titles run past 80 characters, and the average store's average title is 91 characters. Google shows roughly the first 70 characters on most Shopping placements, so the tail of most titles is invisible to the shopper.

The fix is order, not length. Put the words buyers type in the first 70 characters: product type, brand, key attribute, color. Everything after that is for the algorithm.

Why this is good news for you

Because the bar is on the floor. Most dropshipping stores compete with the same auto-generated feed as everyone else. A week of honest feed work - identifiers filled, titles rewritten front-first, one manual attribute completed across the catalog - beats months of bid tweaking, and the data shows almost nobody does it.

The full numbers and methodology are in the Product Feed Quality Index on the blog.
