Can I get Merchant Center approved before I have any reviews or sales history?
The short answer
Yes, you can get Merchant Center approved with zero reviews and zero sales. Google checks your feed and your site, not your track record. It wants prices that match, real contact details, a clear returns policy, and secure checkout. A brand new store with clean data gets approved. ZenoX runs that same checklist before any new store's feed goes live.
Google checks the store, not your track record
Merchant Center approval is a data and policy check, not a popularity contest. Google is asking one question: if I send a shopper here, will they get what your listing promised. Sales history does not answer that. Your site and your feed do.
So a store that opened yesterday can be approved tomorrow, and a store doing six figures a month can get suspended today. The review looks at the same things either way.
Reviews and star ratings are a different thing entirely
This is where the confusion comes from. Product ratings and seller ratings are separate programmes that put stars on your listing, and those do need review volume to show up.
But stars are a badge, not a gate. You do not need a single review to get products approved and running in Shopping. Missing stars costs you some click-through rate against competitors who have them. It does not cost you approval.
What a brand new store needs before it submits
Get these right and a first review usually clears. Feed price and availability that match the live page exactly, including sale prices. A working contact method that a real person answers. Shipping information with honest timeframes. A returns policy that actually says the terms. SSL on the domain, so the URL starts with https. Product images with no other brand's logo or watermark in them.
Expect roughly 24 to 72 hours for that first review once the feed is submitted. Anything flagged in it needs fixing fast, because unresolved product issues can escalate from single disapprovals to account level risk.
ZenoX runs a QA pass on the feed before submission and watches the diagnostics through that first review cycle. Getting it clean the first time is far easier than getting it back.
