What Is Overdelivery?
Also written as over delivery, budget overdelivery, Google Ads overspend.
Definition
Overdelivery is when Google Ads spends more than your average daily budget on a given day, because traffic was strong. For most campaigns a day can reach two times that budget, checked 5 November 2026. A store on $10 a day can see $20 on a busy Saturday, and that is normal.

Overdelivery, Explained
Your daily budget is an average, not a hard stop. Google can spend more on a strong day and less on a weak one. As of 5 November 2026, Google gives two limits, and both are for most campaigns.
The daily limit is two times your average daily budget. The monthly limit is 30.4 times your average daily budget. That 30.4 is the average number of days in a month, 365 divided by 12.
Google's own example: $304 a month divided by 30.4 is $10 a day. One day can reach $20. The month stays capped at $304. If costs run past the limit, say $310 of costs on a $304 limit, you still pay only the limit.
So a single high day is not a bug and it is not a reason to panic. Judge spend over the whole month. If one high day still feels too risky, set a daily budget you could live with at twice the size.
A real problem looks different. If the month is over the limit on your invoice, or your bill jumps with no matching spend, check your budget changes and billing.
How We Use It at ZenoX
We judge spend over the month, not by one hot day. When a client asks about a high day, we check it against the daily and monthly limits first. We size budgets knowing a day can run past the number on the screen.
Questions People Ask About Overdelivery
Can Google Ads Spend More Than My Daily Budget?
Yes. For most campaigns, Google can spend up to two times your average daily budget on one day (checked 5 November 2026). Other days may come in lower. Over a month, the limit for most campaigns is 30.4 times your daily budget.
Do I Pay for Overdelivery?
Only up to your limit. Google says you will never pay more than your spending limits. In its example, $310 of costs on a $304 monthly limit still means you pay $304 (checked 5 November 2026). That limit is for most campaigns, not every campaign.
