- 12,000+PMax campaigns audited
- 200+Live ecom clients
- €200M+Tracked sales
Chris opens this video with one line: tracking is "definitely one of the most important parts" of his whole Google Ads masterclass for dropshippers. Then he installs it start to finish in under six minutes.
So how does it work? To install TrackBee for Google Ads, connect your Shopify store to TrackBee and link your Google Ads account. Then turn on the conversion booster (enhanced conversions) and paste TrackBee's code into a Shopify custom pixel. Last, set only the two TrackBee purchase actions as primary goals, with data-driven attribution.
That is the whole TrackBee Google Ads setup. The rest of this post walks each step in the order Chris does it in the video at the top.
Why Tracking Comes Before Any Campaign
Chris puts TrackBee in part three of his series. That is before a single campaign goes live. He is clear about why.
You need a proper tracking foundation in order to scale and grow your store effectively.
Google's bidding learns from the sales you report back. If half of them never arrive, it learns from half the truth. If Google Ads conversion tracking on Shopify is new to you, start there for the basics.
TrackBee is the tool Chris uses for the job. In a YouTube comment he explains why: it includes server-side tracking and enhanced conversion tracking for Google Ads. Both are usually technical to set up. With TrackBee on Shopify, they are not.
This guide is one piece of a bigger system. The full Google Ads dropshipping guide shows where tracking sits next to your feed and your first campaigns. And the free course breakdown covers every part of the series this video comes from.
Step 1: Create Your TrackBee Account and Connect Shopify
Chris skips this part on camera because his store is already connected. He calls it "the most basic part".
Step 1: Sign up and connect the store
Create your TrackBee account and log in. TrackBee asks you to connect your store. Pick your Shopify store, then install the TrackBee Connect app.
That is it for the Shopify side, for now. You come back to Shopify in step 4.
Step 2: Connect Your Google Ads Pixel
Now go back to the overview in TrackBee and click on your store. This is where you connect your pixels.
As of the video, you see options for Facebook ads, Pinterest and TikTok here as well. For this setup you only need one: Google Ads.
Step 2: Link Google Ads
Choose Google Ads. Sign in with your Google account again, then pick the ad account for this store. TrackBee then connects to your Google Ads account.
Chris hits a small snag here on camera. His first try fails because the session has expired. He tries again and it works. If you see the same thing, just retry.
Step 3: Turn On the Conversion Booster
After step 2, TrackBee already shows up in your Google Ads account. But Chris says you are "not quite done yet".
The next piece is the conversion booster. In his words, it is "basically Google Ads enhanced conversion tracking". TrackBee gives you a setup guide for it, and Chris follows it click by click.
Step 3: Enable enhanced conversions
The guide sends you to your Google Ads settings. Accept the customer data terms. Turn on enhanced conversions. Choose the Google Ads API as the method. Back in TrackBee, grant the access it asks for.
TrackBee shows you on screen what to click in Google Ads. So you can follow along click by click.
Step 4: Install the TrackBee Custom Pixel in Shopify
The conversion booster also needs a custom pixel on your store. TrackBee gives you the code for it.
Step 4: Add the custom pixel
In Shopify, open Customer Events and add a custom pixel. Name it anything you like - Chris uses "TrackBee Conversion Booster". Set the permission to marketing. For data sale, pick "does not qualify as data sale". Paste the code, save, then connect.
A viewer asked which code goes in here. The answer is the one from TrackBee's conversion booster guide, not something you write yourself.
Step 5: Give It a Little Time
Once you finish, the new conversion will not show up right away. Chris says it "takes a little bit of time" and that this is fine.
Step 5: Wait, then check
Do not panic if nothing appears yet. If you followed every step, it is set up correctly.
One viewer saw the TrackBee order conversion marked as Inactive in Google Ads. Chris replied that this is normal at the start. His test: start running ads. If page views and add to carts come in, you know it works.
Step 6: Set Only Purchases as Primary Goals
This step decides what Google optimizes for. Head to your conversion goals in Google Ads. TrackBee is already there.
As of the video, everything comes in as secondary. Chris wants the TrackBee purchase action and the order booster as primary. Every other action stays secondary.
Step 6: Fix goals and attribution
Set the TrackBee purchase action and the order booster to primary. Keep everything else secondary, and set GA4 to secondary as well. Open each primary action and change attribution from last click to data-driven. In the video, the window sits at 90 days. Save.
Why only those two? Chris says that if more actions are primary, Google counts the same purchase twice. A GA4 purchase and a TrackBee purchase are the same sale. If both are primary, Google thinks you sold double. Then it bids on numbers that are not real.
At the end Chris checks it once more. Both actions show primary and data-driven. Done.
What Comes Next
With TrackBee live, you have what Chris calls "the solid tracking foundation". In his series, the next video launches the campaigns.
If you run a dropshipping store, read Google Ads conversion tracking for dropshipping next. It goes deeper on server-side tracking and how to stop Google Ads counting one sale twice.
Rather skip the setup work completely? Tracking is the first thing we build when we run Google Ads for your dropshipping store.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the TrackBee order conversion show as Inactive in Google Ads?
That is normal at the start. Chris says to make sure you set up every step the way the video shows. Then you can start running ads. If page views and add to carts come in, you know the tracking works.
Which code do I paste into the Shopify custom pixel?
TrackBee gives you the code inside the conversion booster setup guide. In Shopify, open Customer Events, add a custom pixel, give it a name like TrackBee Conversion Booster, paste the code, then save and connect.
What is the difference between TrackBee and Simprosys?
They are two different apps. TrackBee is for tracking. Simprosys is for your Merchant Center feed. Chris says TrackBee includes server-side tracking and enhanced conversion tracking for Google Ads, which are usually technical to set up, but easy through TrackBee and Shopify.
Do I need Google Analytics set up before I install TrackBee?
In Chris's series, yes - GA4 was set up before this step. His free course covers the full setup from A to Z. Once TrackBee is live, GA4 stays a secondary goal in Google Ads so purchases are not counted twice.
Can TrackBee connect to Meta and other ad platforms too?
Yes. As of the video, the store screen in TrackBee also lets you connect pixels for Facebook ads, Pinterest and TikTok. This guide only covers the Google Ads pixel.
